There are several types of cookies based on different criteria:

Based on ownership:

• First-party cookies: These belong to the owner of the website.
• Third-party cookies: These are owned by a third party, different from the website owner, who will process the information collected.

Based on their purpose:

• Technical cookies: are those that allow the user to navigate through a website, platform, or application and use the different options or services that exist therein, including those that the editor uses to allow the management and operation of the website and enable its functions and services, such as, for example, controlling traffic and data communication, identifying the session, accessing restricted access parts, remembering the elements that make up an order, carrying out the purchase process of an order, managing payment, controlling fraud linked to service security, making a request for registration or participation in an event, counting visits for the purpose of billing software licenses with which the service (website, platform or application) operates, using security elements during navigation, storing content for broadcasting videos or sound, enabling dynamic content (for example, loading animation of text or image) or sharing content through social networks. Also belonging to this category, due to their technical nature, are those cookies that allow the most efficient management possible of the advertising spaces that, as another design or “layout” element of the service offered to the user, the editor has included on a website, application or platform based on criteria such as the edited content, without collecting user information for other purposes, such as personalizing that advertising content or other content. Technical cookies will be exempt from compliance with the obligations established in Article 22.2 of the LSSI when they allow the provision of the service requested by the user, as is the case with the cookies listed in the preceding paragraphs. However, if these cookies are also used for non-exempt purposes (for example, for behavioral advertising purposes), they will be subject to said obligations.

• Preference or personalization cookies: are those that allow information to be remembered so that the user accesses the service with certain characteristics that can differentiate their experience from that of other users, such as, for example, the language, the number of results to show when the user performs a search, the appearance or content of the service depending on the type of browser through which the user accesses the service or the region from which they access the service, etc. If the user themselves chooses these characteristics (for example, if they select the language of a website by clicking on the flag icon of the corresponding country), the cookies will be exempt from the obligations of Article 22.2 of the LSSI as they are considered a service expressly requested by the user, and provided that the cookies exclusively serve the selected purpose.

• Analytics or measurement cookies: are those that allow their controller to monitor and analyze the behavior of users of the websites to which they are linked, including the quantification of ad impacts. The information collected through this type of cookies is used in the measurement of the activity of websites, applications or platforms, in order to introduce improvements based on the analysis of the usage data made by users of the service. Regarding the processing of data collected through analytics cookies, although they are not exempt from the duty to obtain informed consent for their use, it is unlikely that they represent a risk to user privacy as long as they are first-party cookies, that they process aggregated data for a strictly statistical purpose, that information about their uses is provided, and that users are given the possibility to express their refusal to use them.

• Behavioral advertising cookies: are those that store information on user behavior obtained through continuous observation of their browsing habits, which allows a specific profile to be developed to display advertising based on it.

Based on the time they remain active on the terminal equipment, we can distinguish:

• Session cookies: are those designed to collect and store data while the user accesses a web page. They are usually used to store information that is only interesting to keep for the provision of the service requested by the user on a single occasion (for example, a list of purchased products) and disappear when the session ends.
• Persistent cookies: are those in which the data remains stored in the terminal and can be accessed and processed for a period defined by the cookie controller, which can range from a few minutes to several years.
